If there were pictures saved on the SD, you have as much as no chance to revover the data, wich was saved there before the pictures came on it.

Generally, and no matter what type of Device/Disk, there is a good chance to recover erased Data, as long as there has not been saved any other data on it. This is because erasing data means for the machine (computer etc.) that the corresponding entry in the content table of the Disk is erased. The files themselves stay on the disk, until there is some other data saved on physically the same place on the disk. As soon as there comes new data, the former data cannot be recovered anymore.

For that reason it is recommended, to make a backup copy of the content somewhere else, before erasing removable Drives, as long as it is not guaranteed, that the data on it is no longer needed for any purpose.
