Recommended for Shifting up is about:
1st -> 2nd = 22 km/h
2nd -> 3rd = 40 km/h
3rd -> 4th = 60 km/h
4th -> 5th = 85 km/h
This is not the most economic way of driving (you could shift up much earlier), but compared to your driving style, this seems for me to be the best solution.
With that shifting style the engine should always run between 2.000 and 3.000 rpm. See the red arrows in the diagram below. Nearly most economic would be the green arrows.
There may be some rpms where the engine doesn´t run very smoothly (mostly between 2.000 and 2.200 rpm) so, feel free to shift up later, to get higher rpm in the next gear or to shift up earlier, to run the engine between 1.500 and 2.000. My EJ-DE runs very smoothly in these regions.
What does "smoothly" mean? You can always drive right after starting the engine. Hold the revolutions per minute under 3.000 for the first 1 or 2 minutes but also do not accelerate with full throttle. Drive sensitively, you know?
... ...
Oh Man, don´t you have some sensitiveness? You should get some feeling for the car. This feeling you need not only when driving, but even for cooking or... you know... other things in life...
Maximum shifting up speeds are when the engine doesn´t accelerate further. Should be about 53, 94, 148 and 211 km/h.
If the rev-limiter is not at 7.000 but 6.500 rpm, it should be at 49, 87, 137, 196 km/h.
These are the maximum downshifting speeds, too.
All these data without any guarantee! No responsibility taken! (as I don´t know if your car is equipped with the same transmission as the German ones)
